- Query Operations

- All search operations in NetDB are performed from the Query System page, accessible via the left-hand main menu
- You can search for networks, individual IPs and/or host records via a number of parameters
- Results are returned in static or editable contexts based on your search parameters
- Query by IP

- The 'Query by IP' search box returns either host, NCG, network or network DNS information based on the supplied IP address
- The IP must be entered in standard dotted quad
- Slash notation is prohibitted (a single IP search will return the network it belongs to)
- The radio buttons (required) return the following information:
- Network Contact Group brings you straight to the NCG page of the IPs NCG (NOT the associated forward host's NCG)
- Host Detail returns non-editable info on the host record referenced by the IPs reverse lookup. If the IP supplied is a network base address, returns DNS info for the subnet.
- Network Detail returns non-editable info on the network which the IP belongs to
- XML brings you to the XML interface with a pre-populated query for the supplied IP in the 'XML in' box. You must press submit to complete the XML query
- Edit Host brings up the 'edit host' GUI for the host record referenced by the IPs reverse lookup (not the reverse record itself)
- Network DNS Detail returns a list of all host records (forward and reverse) associated with the network that the IP belongs to
- Query by host

- The 'Query by host' search boxes return either host or NCG information based on the supplied host and domain names.
- The radio buttons (required) return the following information:
- Network Contact Group brings you straight to the NCG page of the supplied hostname
- Host Detail returns non-editable info on the host record supplied
- XML brings you to the XML interface with a pre-populated query for the supplied hostname in the 'XML in' box. You must press submit to complete the XML query.
- Edit Host brings up the 'edit host' GUI for the hostname supplied
