How can I report a network problem?
To report an network problem, or request assistance with network related issues, contact the Network Operations Center (NOC). The Network Operations team can be reached through the NOC during regular operating hours by phone at (732)445-7541 or via email, at noc@rutgers.edu
To assist the NOC with the assignment and identification of the issue, please include the following information in your request:
- Name
- NetId (username)
- Campus Location
- Department
- Phone number
- Email address
- Description of the issue

What are the NOC hours of operation?
The NOC is open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. Issues reported outside of the business hours of operations will be addressed the following business day.
What information do I need to report a dialup problem?
Please visit the OIT-TD Dialup page for what details you should include in your problem report. Please contact our Network Operations Center to report dialup issues.
How can I see a list of current network device outages?
Please view the Network Status Tool for a current listing of device outages. For additional details on the outages, contact the NOC.
How do I learn more about my network?
If you need information about you local network, start with your local network manager. He or she is responsible for the local connections and devices in you department or building. If you are not sure who to contact, please call or email our NOC and they will assist you in locating him or her.
My department does not have a network liaison, what group can I contact concerning network problems?
Contact the NOC, for further information assistance with directing your complaint to the appropriate group(s).
How do I request an upgrade for my network connection?
Network liaisons can make requests concerning network upgrades. TD currently upgrades network components based on traffic patterns and bandwidth needs. Please contact the NOC for further information and assistance.
How do I request new network space, or an expansion of my current network allocation?
Network liaisons can make requests concerning network allocations. For additional information, please refer to Network Space Allocation, or contact the NOC.
All requests to have hosts registered must be submitted by the liaison of the host network. A liaison is any individual recognized or registered as an official representative of the host network. The individual can be a Unit Computing Specialist (UCS), Unit Computing Manager (UCM), Network Liaison (NL), or Responsible Party (RP). Contact the NOC by phone or email to submit a request or to request registration information in order to process your own data.
How do I update my Host DNS information?
Host registration may be completed using the NETDB (Network Database) tool located on the Netdb page. Documentation regarding the tools is also available at the site.
How can I have access to make DNS changes for my subnet(s)?
Access is granted to registered network liaisons. For information on Network Contact Group (NCG) and Network Liaison (NL) responsibilities visit the TD Documentation pages or click "NETDB Role Definitions and Responsibilities".
How can I get network announcements?
The TD NOC distributes network announcements to the net_people email list. For more information on subscribing to the list, please refer to http://www.td/rutgers.edu/announcements/
